A major on-chain transfer tied to Pump.fun has once again drawn attention to how the popular memecoin launchpad is managing the proceeds from its token sale.
On January 13, a wallet linked to Pump.fun deposited approximately $148 million worth of stablecoins — split between USDC and USDT — to the crypto exchange Kraken, according to data shared by on-chain analyst EmberCN.
The transaction adds to a steady stream of large exchange-bound transfers that have been occurring over the past two months.
$148M transfer adds to months-long flow
Blockchain records show the latest deposit was completed within a short time window, with both USDC and USDT sent directly to Kraken. EmberCN noted that the funds originated from wallets associated with Pump.fun’s PUMP token sale, which took place in mid-2025.
With this latest movement, the total amount transferred to Kraken since November 15 now stands at roughly $753 million in stablecoins. All of the funds can be traced back to proceeds from the PUMP initial coin offering based on publicly visible wallet activity.
Similar nine-figure transfers have appeared at regular intervals since late 2025. In several instances, stablecoins deposited to Kraken were later observed moving toward Circle-related addresses, suggesting potential redemptions or internal treasury operations.
Neither Pump.fun nor Kraken has issued a public statement regarding the purpose of the latest transfer. Still, the size and consistency of these deposits have kept traders and analysts watching closely, particularly given Pump.fun’s central role in the memecoin ecosystem on Solana.
Treasury management and growing scrutiny
Pump.fun has previously rejected claims that these transfers represent outright cash-outs. Team members have described earlier movements as routine treasury management, including diversification, operational expenses, and preparation for future reinvestment.
Even so, the timing has reignited debate. The latest transfer arrives amid broader scrutiny of the platform, including criticism of its former creator fee structure and signs of slower revenue growth compared to the peak of memecoin trading activity.
Earlier this month, co-founder Alon Cohen acknowledged shortcomings in the previous fee model and outlined plans to shift incentives away from volume-heavy token launches toward traders and liquidity providers.
At the same time, Pump.fun remains under legal pressure. A court ruling is expected later this month in an amended civil lawsuit alleging racketeering and insider trading. While the $148 million transfer is not directly linked to the case, it has raised fresh questions around transparency, governance, and treasury oversight.
For now, market reaction has been cautious rather than reactive. Observers continue to monitor wallet activity closely, watching for additional movements or an official response from the Pump.fun team.
