Bitmine is doubling down on Ethereum.
The firm has staked an additional $60 million worth of ETH, further expanding what has become one of the largest corporate Ethereum staking operations in the market. The move reinforces Bitmine’s Ethereum-first treasury strategy as institutional staking continues to scale.
Staked ETH Crosses the $2.6 Billion Mark
On-chain data shared on Jan. 8 by Onchain Lens shows that Bitmine recently staked 19,200 ETH, valued at approximately $60.8 million.
This latest transaction brings Bitmine’s total staked balance to roughly 827,000 ETH, now worth around $2.62 billion at current prices.
The staking push has accelerated quickly:
- Dec. 27: Initial staking of 74,880 ETH
- Early January: Added 82,560 ETH
- Jan. 6: A major 186,336 ETH stake
- Jan. 8: Another 19,200 ETH deployed
Nearly 20% of Bitmine’s ETH holdings are now actively staked.
Ethereum Yields Turn Scale Into Serious Revenue
With Ethereum staking yields hovering near 2.8%, Bitmine’s growing staked balance could generate tens of millions of dollars annually in rewards assuming the firm continues allocating capital at its current pace.
Rather than holding ETH passively, Bitmine is positioning staking as a core revenue engine tied directly to its treasury strategy.
A Massive Ethereum Treasury Takes Shape
Beyond staking, the scale of Bitmine’s ETH holdings is turning heads.
The company now controls more than 4.07 million ETH, valued at roughly $12.8 billion about 3.4% of Ethereum’s total supply. That makes Bitmine the largest known corporate holder of Ethereum, and second only to Strategy when measured across digital asset treasuries.
Across the broader market, ETH reserve companies collectively hold around 6.8 million ETH, meaning Bitmine alone accounts for a significant share of institutional Ethereum exposure.
From Infrastructure to Ethereum Accumulation
Under the leadership of Tom Lee, Bitmine’s focus has evolved.
Originally centered on immersion cooling and infrastructure, the company has shifted toward large-scale digital asset accumulation, with Ethereum now sitting at the center of its balance sheet. Weekly ETH purchases and consistent staking activity suggest this is not a short-term trade, but a long-term strategic pivot.
U.S.-Based Validator Network Coming in 2026
Bitmine is also preparing to launch its Made-in-America Validator Network (MAVAN), which will operate Ethereum validators within the United States.
While earlier guidance pointed to a Q1 2026 rollout, the Ethereum validator entry queue has seen congestion partly driven by large institutional deposits like Bitmine’s. Even so, the validator launch remains a key pillar of the firm’s staking strategy.
As more ETH flows into corporate-controlled validators, the trend has sparked debate. Some analysts welcome the added network security, while others raise concerns about validator concentration and centralization.
What to Watch Next
Bitmine’s next shareholder meeting, scheduled for Jan. 15 in Las Vegas, is expected to provide more clarity on:
- Validator rollout timelines
- Future staking allocations
- Long-term Ethereum treasury plans
With billions already committed, Bitmine’s decisions could influence not just staking yields but broader conversations around institutional control in Ethereum’s validator ecosystem.
Final Thoughts
Bitmine’s additional $60 million ETH stake underscores a growing institutional belief in Ethereum as both a productive asset and a treasury cornerstone.
As staking, validators, and corporate ETH reserves continue to scale, Bitmine is emerging as a central player in Ethereum’s institutional era one whose next moves could ripple well beyond its own balance sheet.
