XRP is trading at a critical juncture as price hovers around the $1.88 level, with sellers applying pressure even as institutional interest through exchange-traded funds continues to grow. After failing to push through a key resistance zone earlier in the week, the token slipped below an important support level, adding to short-term uncertainty.
The move lower followed a brief attempt at recovery that ultimately stalled, mirroring broader weakness across the cryptocurrency market. XRP posted modest gains at the start of the week, but momentum faded quickly after the rejection, leaving price consolidating just under former support.
Sentiment Turns Bearish as Price Weakens
Investor sentiment around XRP has shifted noticeably. According to data from Santiment, negative social media commentary has risen above average levels, signaling growing pessimism among retail participants. This change in tone comes as XRP extends its pullback from the all-time high reached in July.
Historically, Santiment notes that sharp spikes in negative sentiment have often appeared near local turning points. The firm highlighted late June as a recent example, when a similar surge in bearish commentary was followed by a rally that ultimately carried XRP to its July peak.
Despite the current downturn, some long-term holders remain optimistic. One analyst from the XRP community suggested that the recent decline could set the stage for a fresh push to new highs later next year, arguing that sentiment extremes often precede reversals.
ETF Inflows Remain a Bright Spot
The recent price weakness stands in contrast to continued strength in XRP-linked exchange-traded funds. Since the launch of the first spot XRP ETF on November 13, products have recorded consecutive days of net inflows. Data from SoSoValue show that total assets under management across these funds have now surpassed $1 billion.
Notably, Monday marked the strongest single day of inflows since early December, highlighting sustained institutional demand even as short-term price action remains under pressure.
Technical Signals Point to Near-Term Caution
From a technical perspective, warning signs had already emerged. The TD Sequential indicator recently flashed a sell signal following a strong multi-day bounce, suggesting the rally may have been overextended. That signal preceded the latest pullback, reinforcing the view that XRP has entered a corrective phase.
While ETF inflows provide longer-term support, short-term structure has weakened. Bears remain in control below resistance, and unless price can reclaim that zone, selling pressure may persist.
What to Watch Next
XRP remains up significantly on the year, trading roughly 70–80% higher than its early-2025 levels. However, the near-term outlook depends on whether buyers can defend current support and absorb ongoing selling.
A sustained hold above the $1.85–$1.90 area could stabilize price and open the door for another recovery attempt. Failure to do so, despite strong ETF inflows, may keep volatility elevated and sentiment fragile in the sessions ahead.
