Ripple has made one of its largest strategic moves of the year, announcing the acquisition of Chicago-based treasury management platform GTreasury in a $1 billion deal. The purchase, revealed on October 16, marks Ripple’s third major acquisition of 2025, underscoring its rapid expansion into global finance and enterprise infrastructure.
GTreasury joins Ripple’s growing portfolio alongside recent acquisitions of prime brokerage firm Hidden Road and stablecoin provider Rail, strengthening Ripple’s position across payments, liquidity, and corporate treasury management.
Ripple’s Big Push Into Corporate Treasury
Ripple — the company behind the XRP cryptocurrency and the Ripple USD (RLUSD) stablecoin — says GTreasury will help unlock new opportunities for enterprises seeking faster, cheaper, and more efficient ways to manage global capital.
“For too long, money has been stuck in slow, outdated payment systems, causing unnecessary delays and high costs — problems blockchain is uniquely positioned to solve,” said Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghouse.
How GTreasury Strengthens Ripple’s Ecosystem
GTreasury is one of the most widely used treasury management systems globally, serving clients in over 160 countries. Its platform includes:
- Cash forecasting
- Global payments
- Risk management
- Compliance
- Liquidity monitoring
By combining these tools with Ripple’s blockchain infrastructure, companies will be able to:
- Move money instantly across borders
- Unlock trapped or idle capital
- Manage liquidity more efficiently
- Reduce risk and improve compliance
- Access new on-chain financing tools
GTreasury CEO Renaat Ver Eecke said the partnership accelerates a long-held mission:
“By joining Ripple, we’re moving from simply managing capital to activating it.”
This integration aims to modernize global corporate treasury operations, allowing enterprises to tap into on-chain speed, transparency, and capital efficiency.
Why the Deal Matters for Ripple
Ripple is positioning itself at the center of a future financial stack powered by blockchain. By adding treasury management, brokerage services, and stablecoin infrastructure under one umbrella, the company is building a full end-to-end ecosystem for:
- Global payments
- Liquidity management
- Institutional finance
- Corporate money movement
GTreasury’s technology fits into this strategy by helping businesses place idle funds into productive use — potentially through Ripple’s growing suite of blockchain financial tools.
Ripple expects the $1 billion acquisition to close in the coming months, pending regulatory approval.
