A set of cryptocurrency wallets tied to the failed Libra meme token have suddenly come back to life months after disappearing from activity following the project’s dramatic collapse. According to new data from blockchain analytics firm Nansen, these wallets are now using their stablecoin reserves to buy Solana (SOL) during market dips, stirring fresh controversy and renewed legal scrutiny.
Nansen reports that two major Libra-linked addresses resumed activity only when Solana’s price hit its lowest point. One of the wallets, known as “Libra Team 1,” reportedly withdrew stablecoins from decentralized exchanges before converting them into wrapped Solana. These same wallets previously managed large sums throughout the Libra meme token’s rise and its eventual rug pull, which wiped out millions in investor funds.
Despite an ongoing class-action lawsuit related to the token’s collapse, the wallets remain unrestricted. Market experts also note that Circle the issuer of the USDC stablecoin has not blacklisted any addresses tied to the early Libra token operations.
The renewed wallet activity coincided with heavy buying from multiple Solana whales. Even though many of these investors’ positions remain unprofitable, they continued accumulating SOL as its price dropped. One major holder moved their tokens off exchanges into secure offline storage. Derivatives data shows that open interest surged and traders leaned into long positions, forcing many short sellers to close or face liquidation as prices rebounded.
Why It Matters
Libra became one of 2025’s most controversial crypto stories after Argentina’s President Javier Milei publicly endorsed the token. The hype was short-lived. The project collapsed, erasing more than $280 million in value and impacting around 75,000 investors.
Investigations revealed that eight insider wallets withdrew large sums before the crash, accelerating the token’s downfall. Nansen specifically identified two wallets Defcy (Libra Deployer) and 61yKS (Libra Wallet) which later used their leftover stablecoin reserves to buy millions of dollars’ worth of Solana.
Legal challenges continue to unfold. In the Kelsier Ventures case, a U.S. court initially froze tens of millions in stablecoins but later lifted the restriction after determining victims still had pathways to compensation. Meanwhile, authorities have requested an Interpol Red Notice for Hayden Davis, the alleged Libra token developer. Lawyers argue that Davis should be detained due to his access to vast financial resources and his history of launching short-lived meme tokens that soared briefly before crashing.
With whale activity rising and legal tensions escalating, the reawakening of Libra’s ghost wallets has added fresh uncertainty to both Solana’s market trajectory and the broader debate around crypto accountability.
