Global asset manager VanEck has officially launched its Solana ETF (SOL) on Nasdaq as of Nov. 17, giving institutional investors regulated access to Solana through a traditional financial product.
According to regulatory filings, the ETF was seeded with an initial basket of tokens purchased at the end of October. VanEck is waiving its sponsor fee on the first tranche of assets for a limited period, though the fund still carries a unified expense ratio.
State Street Bank oversees fund administration, while crypto custody is handled by two major custodians.
Staking Rewards Passed Directly to Investors
In a notable move, VanEck’s ETF will stake a portion of its Solana holdings through approved third-party validators.
The staking rewards will be added to the fund’s NAV, allowing investors to benefit without holding or managing Solana themselves.
The initial staking provider has agreed to waive its fee during the fund’s introductory fee-waiver period a competitive advantage in the rapidly growing Solana ETF space.
Grayscale’s Solana Fund Attracts Strong Early Inflows
VanEck’s launch follows Grayscale’s spot Solana fund, introduced in late October. Grayscale rapidly accumulated significant assets amid record early inflows, making it the first U.S.-listed Solana ETF.
Grayscale also shares staking yield with investors and recently reduced its staking fee until the fund reaches a specified size.
Together, the two products signal intensifying institutional interest in Solana-based investment vehicles.
SOL Price Volatility Could Influence ETF Demand
While Solana ETFs are gaining traction, the token itself has been on a sharp downward correction:
- SOL is trading well below its price from a month earlier
- The asset peaked earlier this year before entering a multi-week downturn
- Analysts warn of a critical support zone below current levels
- A breakdown could lead to further losses
- A breakout above resistance would indicate fading bearish momentum
Trading activity has risen alongside heightened volatility.
Some market analysts expect Solana-linked ETFs to attract substantial combined inflows in their first year, but the pace will likely depend on SOL’s price stability.
