OKX is making decentralized trading far more accessible with a new update that brings direct DEX trading to its mobile app. The feature, now available to users in the U.S. and multiple international markets, allows traders to access tokens on Solana, Base, and X Layer without leaving the app or giving up control of their assets.
The rollout introduces self-custody wallets built directly into the OKX app, complete with passkey authentication. This setup lets users swap tokens across major blockchain ecosystems without relying on external wallets, seed-phrase management, or cross-chain bridges.
In a Nov. 13 statement shared with crypto.news, OKX said the update is designed to eliminate the technical obstacles that have long complicated the DEX experience:
“Until now, that access has come with heavy technical overhead – managing seed phrases, bridging chains, optimizing gas fees, and navigating complex DEX interfaces before placing a single trade. By removing these barriers, OKX gives traders time back to focus on what matters.”
Introducing CeDeFi Trading
OKX refers to the new feature as CeDeFi trading, a hybrid model that merges centralized and decentralized trading experiences into a single interface. The company believes the integration is important because it bridges the longstanding divide between CEX and DEX users—streamlining workflows that previously required multiple platforms.
Traditional pain points like:
- managing seed phrases
- acquiring native tokens for gas
- navigating cross-chain bridges
- interacting with unfamiliar decentralized apps
are all addressed within OKX’s unified system. The update also includes an order routing engine that scans more than 100 liquidity pools across supported networks to secure the best available execution price.
Access to Early-Stage Tokens
Users can browse decentralized tokens through the app’s “Explore” page or the search bar making it easier to discover emerging projects often before they reach major centralized exchanges.
By baking DEX access directly into its app, OKX aims to give millions of traders a simpler, safer, and more seamless decentralized trading experience.
