The weekend crash that triggered the biggest liquidation event in crypto history caught traders completely off guard. In just hours, billions in leveraged positions were wiped out, sending shockwaves across every major exchange. Yet, by Monday, the market had flipped the script.
Ethereum (ETH) rebounded above $4,000, Solana (SOL) saw fresh inflows from institutions, and XRP reclaimed key technical levels a remarkable recovery after one of the most chaotic weekends in recent memory.
Crypto experts speaking with crypto.news shared insights into why blue-chip altcoins Ethereum, Solana, and XRP were the first to bounce back, and what their performance says about the evolving crypto landscape.
Ethereum Leads the Comeback Driven by Fundamentals and Staking
According to Nic Puckrin, founder of Coin Bureau, Ethereum’s rapid recovery came down to strong fundamentals and a much-needed flush of excess leverage.
“The biggest shock over the weekend was that traders were forced out of even profitable positions due to auto-deleveraging (ADL) on exchanges a risk mechanism that most had never even heard of,”
said Puckrin. “It’s a blunt instrument that certainly deserves some scrutiny.”
Puckrin noted that while the crash was painful, it also helped cleanse the market, clearing out high-risk bets and setting up a healthier base for the next phase.
Echoing that sentiment, Arthur Azizov, founder and investor at B2 Ventures, said Ethereum’s strength lies in its fundamentals especially its large amount of staked ETH, which limits selling pressure.
“Ethereum looks more resilient than Bitcoin. If it can hold above $4,200, it could target $4,500 or higher,”
Azizov explained.
With much of its supply locked in staking contracts, ETH’s supply shock helped it rebound faster than most assets still exposed to short-term speculation.
Solana’s Resilience Points to Real Economic Activity
While many altcoins struggled to regain momentum, Solana (SOL) showed notable strength. Viktor Fischer, CEO of RockawayX, attributes this to the network’s expanding real-world utility and the scale of activity taking place on-chain.
“Solana supports meaningful economic activity including $15.5 billion in stablecoins, 97% of tokenized equities’ daily trading volume since the June 2025 launch of xStocks, and $4.6 billion in tokenized real estate deals on Parcl,”
Fischer told crypto.news.
He added that Solana’s speed and scalability continue to attract both retail and institutional capital, reinforcing confidence even amid volatility. The data suggests that fundamentals not just hype are driving Solana’s recovery.
XRP’s Rebound Fueled by ETF Inflows and Renewed Confidence
XRP also made an impressive comeback, rallying to $2.60 up nearly 35% from Friday’s lows. Analysts at B2BINPAY said the move was supported by robust ETF inflows, a sign that institutional investors are regaining confidence in the asset following Ripple’s legal victory over the SEC in August.
“Exchange-traded crypto products saw nearly $6 billion in inflows earlier this month, including over $200 million into XRP-linked funds,”
B2BINPAY analysts noted. “It’s a strong sign that professional investors are adding exposure following Ripple’s legal settlement.”
They added that XRP faces resistance around $2.80–$3.00, and a weekly close above $3.00 could pave the way for a rally toward $3.40–$3.70.
What the Recovery Reveals About Today’s Crypto Market
The weekend’s wipeout exposed deep liquidity fragility in crypto markets particularly the auto-deleveraging (ADL) mechanisms that forced even winning positions to close. But the sharp rebound also highlighted something encouraging: institutional capital is stepping in faster, and with more conviction, than before.
Ethereum, Solana, and XRP’s resilience suggests that crypto’s “blue chips” are maturing into core infrastructure assets, less dependent on retail hype and more tied to genuine usage and institutional demand.
As one analyst put it: the crash might have shaken confidence but the recovery showed who’s really building for the long term.
