OKB stunned the market on August 21, soaring more than 55% in a single session and briefly touching the $200 mark a new all-time high. The surge comes as excitement builds around OKX’s migration to its native X Layer blockchain and a sweeping token supply overhaul.

The rally was accompanied by a massive jump in trading activity. Spot volume exploded to $7.15 billion in 24 hours up an eye-popping 2,532% compared to the previous day. Futures markets also lit up, with volume climbing 356% to $180 million and open interest surging 239% to $15.9 million, according to CoinGlass.

Why Investors Are Bullish on OKB
The main driver is OKX’s transition to X Layer, its new blockchain designed around a “one token, one chain” philosophy. Nearly 90% of OKB tokens have already migrated, according to data from LunarCrush.
As part of the move, OKX also burned 65.26 million OKB, permanently cutting supply to a fixed 21 million tokens similar to Bitcoin’s scarcity model. That hard cap has sparked fresh optimism that demand could outpace supply over the long run.
The upgrade isn’t just cosmetic. X Layer now processes up to 5,000 transactions per second, with near-zero gas fees and full Ethereum compatibility. Importantly, OKB is now the sole gas token for the network, meaning more on-chain activity directly translates to greater token demand.
