The memecoin treasury trend is picking up speed, and now Nasdaq-listed Safety Shot is joining the race. The company, best known for its patented beverage that rapidly reduces blood alcohol levels, has teamed up with the founding contributors of Bonk (BONK) to launch a dedicated BONK treasury strategy.
$25M in BONK to Kick Things Off
Safety Shot has secured an initial $25 million in BONK tokens as part of the deal. To make it happen, the company will issue $35 million in preferred shares, convertible into common stock, in exchange for the tokens.
This move comes as Safety Shot sits in a strong financial position with all debt cleared and over $15 million in cash reserves.
Why BONK Over Other Memecoins?
According to Safety Shot, the decision came down to speed, cost, and tokenomics. BONK runs on the Solana blockchain, known for its lightning-fast, low-cost transactions. It also has a deflationary burn mechanism, which permanently removes tokens from circulation to potentially boost scarcity and long-term value.
That made BONK more appealing than Ethereum-based rivals like Shiba Inu (SHIB) and Pepe (PEPE) or inflationary memecoins like Dogecoin (DOGE).
“This strategic partnership represents the first stage of a much broader corporate evolution for our company,” said Safety Shot CEO Jarrett Boon.
Part of a Bigger Memecoin Treasury Movement
Safety Shot isn’t alone. Public companies are increasingly exploring memecoin-focused treasuries, a strategy once reserved for crypto-native DAOs.
- Bit Origin announced a $500 million DOGE treasury in July, calling itself the “MicroStrategy of DOGE.”
- Everything Blockchain Inc. launched MemeStrategy, a spin-off dedicated to holding and managing a portfolio of meme tokens like PEPE, BONK, and SPX6900.
These moves signal a shift in how corporate treasuries are thinking about digital assets with meme tokens moving from community-led speculation into the portfolios of listed companies.
