Cardano founder Charles Hoskinson has never been shy about his vision for AD and now, he’s making bold predictions that are turning heads. In a recent interview with Blockworks’ Jason Yanowitz, Hoskinson claimed that Cardano’s ADA could rise 100x, even 1,000x, while Bitcoin might “only” manage a 10x return from current levels.
So what’s behind this ultra-bullish outlook?
ADA to $6,000? Hoskinson Thinks It’s Possible
Hoskinson laid out his case clearly. While Bitcoin may climb to $1 million someday (a roughly 10x gain from current prices), ADA, currently trading around $0.77, could shoot up to $600 or even $6,000. That would be a staggering 100x to 1,000x gain.
What gives ADA that kind of upside? According to Hoskinson, it’s all about market cap potential. Cardano’s market cap sits at $27.5 billion, compared to Bitcoin’s massive $2.34 trillion. In his view, ADA has more room to grow much more.
Why Hoskinson Believes in Cardano’s Moonshot
It’s not just about market cap. Hoskinson pointed to ADA’s historical performance: since launching in 2017 at just $0.02, the token has climbed more than 3,900%. Over the same stretch, Bitcoin has gained about 2,410%. By that measure, ADA has already outperformed and Hoskinson believes it can do it again.
He also highlighted Cardano’s staking stats, with nearly 60% of the circulating supply (worth over $14 billion) currently staked. That, he argues, reflects strong holder conviction and supports price stability.
Another bullish case? DeFi. While Cardano has lagged behind Ethereum in decentralized finance, Hoskinson says its infrastructure is evolving and fast. He even suggested Cardano could one day serve as a “yield layer” for Bitcoin, enabling BTC holders to earn passive income via Cardano smart contracts.
Upcoming developments like the Midnight Glacier Drop and partner-chain airdrops were also listed as near-term catalysts for growth.
But Not Everyone’s Convinced
Despite Hoskinson’s confidence, Cardano still faces serious hurdles.
For one, its DeFi ecosystem remains relatively small. The total value locked (TVL) is just $354 million, compared to Ethereum’s $70 billion. Critics say adoption is lagging, and that technical rollouts have been slower than promised.
There’s also the regulatory landscape especially in the U.S. which has clouded investor sentiment across the altcoin market. Meanwhile, Bitcoin remains the undisputed king of crypto, with a store-of-value narrative that ADA has yet to challenge meaningfully.
Even within Cardano’s own history, skeptics point to past concerns like the Allegra hard fork to question governance and ledger integrity.
Technical Picture: ADA Cools After July Rally
On the charts, ADA is showing signs of short-term weakness after a strong July bounce. Price recently slipped below the 20-day simple moving average at $0.7987, now acting as resistance.
- RSI is at 54.4 neutral, but fading from prior strength.
- MACD has flipped bearish, crossing below the signal line.
- A head-and-shoulders pattern could form if ADA breaks below $0.75.
If ADA can reclaim the $0.80–$0.82 range, bulls may regain momentum. But a drop below $0.69 could push the price down toward $0.63 support.
Bottom Line
Hoskinson’s ADA thesis is bold maybe even radical. While the fundamentals show promise, Cardano has work to do to prove it can compete at the same level as Bitcoin. Whether ADA ever hits $6,000 or not, one thing is clear: the battle for crypto dominance is far from over.
