Bitmain, the world’s largest producer of Bitcoin mining machines, is heading west in a big way. The China-based ASIC chip giant has announced plans to open its first U.S.-based manufacturing facility by early 2026, alongside a new American headquarters set to launch later this year.
Texas or Florida? Bitmain’s Next U.S. Base
According to a Bloomberg report, Bitmain is weighing Texas and Florida as potential locations for its new headquarters, with a decision expected by Q3 2025. These states are already hotspots for crypto mining activity thanks to abundant energy and supportive policies, making them logical choices for the company’s next chapter.
Irene Gao, Bitmain’s global business chief, says the move is part of a broader strategy to better serve North American customers. “This will allow us to speed up delivery and repairs for clients in the U.S. and scale operations in one of the world’s top mining regions,” she noted.
Bitmain also plans to hire around 250 local workers for the facility’s initial phase mainly in manufacturing and maintenance roles.
A Broader Shift: Chinese Miners Plant Roots in the U.S.
Bitmain isn’t alone in making the leap. Other major players like Canaan and MicroBT are also setting up shop in the U.S., a trend driven largely by the need to navigate around steep tariffs on Chinese tech goods. These three companies together produce more than 90% of the world’s Bitcoin mining rigs, so their collective U.S. expansion marks a major shift in the global mining landscape.
By manufacturing locally, these firms hope to avoid the financial hit from import duties while improving service and logistics for American customers.
