In a bold move that’s turning heads across both biotech and crypto sectors, Windtree Therapeutics, a Nasdaq-listed firm, has announced plans to raise $520 million and nearly all of it is earmarked to grow its Binance Coin (BNB) treasury.
The company revealed it has secured two funding agreements: a massive $500 million equity line of credit (ELOC), and a $20 million stock purchase deal with Build and Build Corp. Together, these deals aim to significantly boost Windtree’s crypto holdings and strategic financial positioning.
99% of Funds Headed Straight to BNB
Here’s the kicker: Windtree plans to allocate 99% of the funds roughly $514.8 million toward purchasing BNB tokens. That’s a huge vote of confidence in the future of Binance’s native cryptocurrency.
But there’s a catch. The company can’t tap into the ELOC funds for BNB purchases unless shareholders approve a proposal to increase the number of authorized shares. If they get the green light, Windtree could buy as much as 676,371 BNB at current prices.
At the time of the announcement, BNB was trading at $761.12, down slightly by 0.15%, according to crypto.news.
WINT Stock Reacts Positively
The market seems to like the news. Windtree’s stock (WINT) jumped 4.87% following the announcement. As of July 25, WINT was trading at $1.02 marking a staggering 537.5% increase over the past six months and a 175.6% gain in just the past month.
That meteoric rise closely mirrors Windtree’s growing alignment with crypto, particularly its aggressive BNB accumulation strategy, which officially began in mid-July 2025.
Earlier this month, Windtree also disclosed plans to buy $60 million worth of BNB through a separate securities purchase agreement, further confirming its crypto-forward pivot.
CEO Speaks Out
Windtree CEO Jed Latkin emphasized the strategic importance of these moves. “Pending stockholder approval, the opportunity to secure additional funds for purchasing more BNB cryptocurrency is essential to our strategy,” he said.
Latkin added that the company intends to keep seeking new funding facilities to accelerate its crypto-backed business approach.
