A new player is entering the stablecoin arena in a big way and it’s coming to the public markets.
StablecoinX, a newly formed company created through the merger of TLGY Acquisition Corp. and StablecoinX Assets Inc., is preparing to list on the Nasdaq Global Market under the ticker USDE. The firm is making headlines not just for its public debut, but also for becoming the first publicly traded company to build a treasury strategy centered around Ethena (ENA) one of the fastest-rising names in the synthetic dollar space.
In a July 21 press release, StablecoinX announced it had raised a massive $360 million, with $60 million of that coming in the form of Ethena tokens from the Ethena Foundation itself. The capital raise attracted some of the biggest names in crypto venture capital, including Pantera Capital, Dragonfly, Ribbit Capital, Blockchain.com, Haun Ventures, and Galaxy Digital all participating in a private investment in public equity (PIPE) round.
A Pure-Play on Stablecoin Strategy
StablecoinX isn’t trying to be another jack-of-all-trades crypto firm. According to the announcement, it will operate as a “pure-play treasury company” with a sharp focus on the stablecoin sector. It’s the first public company to actively pursue a treasury strategy involving large-scale accumulation of ENA, Ethena’s native governance and staking token.
Ethena, built on the Ethereum network, powers synthetic stablecoins USDe and USDtb. While it’s already a major player alongside Tether and Circle, its ENA token hasn’t been widely accessible to traditional investors until now.
Buying ENA at Scale
To kick off its strategy, StablecoinX plans to purchase $5 million worth of ENA tokens daily for the next six weeks, according to Ethena Labs. The buys will be facilitated by third-party market makers and funded entirely with $260 million in cash enabling the firm to scoop up roughly 8% of ENA’s circulating supply.
Additional capital will also be directed toward spot deals to continue accumulating ENA as part of the firm’s long-term treasury approach.
Bringing Ethena to Public Investors
According to Young Cho, CEO of both TLGY and StablecoinX Assets, this merger and acquisition strategy offers something unique to traditional investors.
“Deploying capital to accumulate ENA at scale is a deliberate, multi-year capital allocation strategy,” said Cho. “It gives public market investors transparent, well-governed access to the Ethena ecosystem while capturing value from the rising demand for digital dollars.”
The Bigger Picture
This move positions StablecoinX at the forefront of a growing trend in crypto treasury management, where companies are no longer just holding digital assets they’re strategically allocating capital to emerging digital ecosystems.
With ENA recently rebounding above $1.25 and demand for synthetic dollars accelerating, StablecoinX could be uniquely positioned to tap into the next wave of growth in the digital finance landscape.
In short: StablecoinX isn’t just going public it’s going all in.
