Bitcoin (BTC) has erupted out of its recent trading range, rocketing to fresh all-time highs across multiple crypto exchanges in the past 24 hours. Prices soared as high as $112,000 on some platforms and even higher on others fueling renewed excitement across the crypto community.
One key factor behind the surge appears to be strong buying activity out of the United States. According to analyst Burakkesmeci from market intelligence platform CryptoQuant, the Coinbase Premium Index has ticked upward, signaling significant demand among American investors.
Coinbase Premium Soars
Per Burakkesmeci, the Coinbase Premium recently surged to 42 points, meaning traders on Coinbase were willing to pay $42 more per bitcoin than their counterparts on Binance. That’s a clear sign of robust buying pressure among U.S.-based traders.
While the premium was impressive, it didn’t quite eclipse last week’s high of $87.76 a level that highlighted even stronger demand. Historically, the Coinbase Premium has tended to spike during bitcoin rallies and decline when prices fall. A positive premium typically indicates rising interest from both institutional and retail investors, while a negative reading can signal heightened selling pressure.
Encouragingly, Burakkesmeci believes demand for bitcoin remains solid, even with prices pushing into record territory. That suggests bulls may still have gas left in the tank.
Institutions and ETFs Keep Pouring In
Adding to bitcoin’s momentum, the U.S. spot bitcoin ETF market has been seeing massive inflows. Over the past 21 trading days, there’s only been a single day of net outflows. So far in July, spot bitcoin ETFs have attracted at least $4.5 billion in new investments and analysts expect that trend to continue.
Institutional interest has also been ramping up. More corporate treasuries are adopting bitcoin as part of their financial strategies, turning themselves into bitcoin treasury companies. The creation of strategic bitcoin reserves in the U.S. has played a pivotal role in this wave of adoption.
Most analysts remain optimistic about bitcoin’s short-term outlook. They believe any potential headwinds from macroeconomic factors could slow momentum only slightly. As long as ETF inflows and institutional demand stay strong, bitcoin appears well-positioned to navigate any market turbulence as it heads into the final phase of this bull cycle.
