In a major leap for blockchain interoperability, Psy has successfully launched the first trustless bridge connecting Dogecoin (DOGE) to Solana (SOL), allowing users to securely move DOGE onto the Solana network without relying on custodians or centralized signers. The milestone was announced on May 22, 2025, and is seen as a game-changer in connecting proof-of-work assets with high-performance proof-of-stake ecosystems.
A New Standard for Secure Cross-Chain Bridges
Unlike traditional cross-chain bridges that rely on multisignature wallets or centralized custodians, the Dogecoin-to-Solana bridge developed by Psy uses zero-knowledge (ZK) technology to verify Dogecoin’s proof-of-work (PoW) consensus directly on Solana.
“We’re capturing and verifying each Dogecoin block header on Solana,” explained Carter Feldman, CEO and founder of Psy, in an interview with crypto.news. “This allows Solana to cryptographically verify Dogecoin’s state without trusting intermediaries.”
By sidestepping custodial models often targets of major exploits Psy’s trustless bridge significantly enhances cross-chain security. It represents one of the few successful implementations of decentralized PoW bridging in the industry.
Why Dogecoin and Solana?
Feldman noted that Dogecoin’s PoW security offers resilience and decentralization that many proof-of-stake (PoS) systems struggle to replicate. In contrast, Solana brings the speed and flexibility of a highly programmable network.
“We believe in combining the objective security of PoW with the innovation potential of PoS. This bridge proves that’s not only possible it’s also secure,” Feldman stated.
The synergy between Dogecoin’s decentralized security model and Solana’s robust DeFi, NFT, and gaming ecosystem opens up major possibilities for users and developers alike.
Bridging the Technical Gap
Until now, creating a trustless Dogecoin bridge was considered technically infeasible. But advancements in zero-knowledge proofs and the unique expertise of the Psy team made it possible.
“Nobody had built the foundational tools needed for this before,” Feldman said. “The ZK tech stack has matured just enough, and our team’s background in both PoW and ZK systems made this project achievable.”
The approach can potentially be extended to other PoW networks, laying the groundwork for trustless bridges to Bitcoin, Litecoin, and beyond.
Unlocking Ecosystem Synergies
For Dogecoin, this bridge allows users to access Solana’s DeFi protocols, NFT platforms, and Web3 games—without needing to sell their DOGE. For Solana, it unlocks a massive user base and liquidity pool, helping drive new user acquisition and cross-chain activity.
“It’s a win-win. As Dogecoin users explore Solana’s ecosystem, developers here gain access to one of the most recognizable brands and communities in crypto,” said Feldman.
The move is expected to create a flywheel effect, boosting adoption and interaction across both networks.
What’s Next?
Looking forward, Feldman hinted that Bitcoin bridges are firmly in Psy’s sights. Much of the work done for Dogecoin is reusable for other PoW assets.
“Trust-minimized Bitcoin bridges are certainly a north star,” he concluded. “Expect more soon.
Psy’s launch of a trustless Dogecoin-to-Solana bridge marks a significant step forward in blockchain interoperability. By eliminating the need for custodians and leveraging the latest in zero-knowledge technology, Psy sets a new benchmark for secure cross-chain interaction. As the crypto industry moves toward a multi-chain future, innovations like these will be essential in unlocking the full potential of decentralized finance.
