Enjin Blockchain has taken a major step toward enhancing cross-chain functionality by enabling testnet support for leading stablecoins USDC and USDT, according to a blog post from the team on Thursday. The upgrade, powered by Hyperbridge, integrates stablecoins into Enjin’s NFT and gaming ecosystem, further advancing its goal of becoming a core player in blockchain-based gaming infrastructure.
Stablecoins Enter the Enjin Ecosystem
With USDC and USDT now live on Hyperbridge’s testnet, Enjin Blockchain is unlocking stable, fiat-pegged payment options for its gaming and NFT community. The integration utilizes Enjin’s MultiToken Pallet, a powerful module within its Substrate-based blockchain architecture. This technology allows the creation and seamless transfer of various token types including stablecoins across the Enjin network.
The Enjin team highlighted that the move will allow for enhanced cross-chain utility without compromising on decentralization or security.
How It Works: Lock, Mint, and Use
The stablecoin integration is facilitated through Hyperbridge, a decentralized bridging protocol that allows users to lock their USDC or USDT on Ethereum or BNB Chain. Hyperbridge then mints an equivalent multitoken on Enjin Blockchain, maintaining a 1:1 ratio with the original asset.
“The process is decentralized and user-directed. Locking and minting are managed entirely by Hyperbridge smart contracts and relayers,” the team said.
The newly minted multitokens function like any native token within the Enjin ecosystem. They can be used in games, NFT marketplaces, and platforms already integrated into Enjin’s Matrixchain, offering developers and users a stable medium of exchange within a high-performance gaming environment.
Verifiable and Auditable Transfers
To ensure trust and transparency, all actions in the bridging process locking, minting, burning, and unlocking are publicly verifiable and fully auditable. Users retain control throughout, and to reclaim the original stablecoin, one simply burns the multitokens on Enjin Blockchain, triggering a reverse transaction on the originating chain.
A Broader Push for Adoption
This stablecoin integration is part of Enjin’s larger strategy to boost adoption of its custom Substrate-based blockchain, launched in September 2023. Since then, the team has executed several high-impact initiatives, including a December 2023 migration of 200 million NFTs to the Enjin mainnet, allowing users to reclaim assets using an updated Enjin Wallet.
Now, by welcoming USDC and USDT two of the most widely used stablecoins in the crypto space Enjin is aiming to enhance user experience and drive real-world utility for in-game and marketplace transactions.
Outlook
The integration of stablecoins on testnet signals Enjin’s readiness to support real economic activity in its decentralized gaming ecosystem. As Hyperbridge continues to mature, the transition to mainnet support could transform how value flows within Enjin-powered platforms offering developers and gamers alike a stable, interoperable, and decentralized solution for digital asset transfers.
