Soneium, Sony’s blockchain initiative, has partnered with LINE to integrate four blockchain-powered mini-apps into the platform, aiming to expand web3 adoption among LINE’s 200 million active users. The move is expected to provide seamless access to decentralized applications (dApps) while leveraging LINE’s extensive social network.
Bringing Web3 to LINE’s Digital Ecosystem
In a press release shared with crypto.news, Soneium outlined its strategy to roll out blockchain mini-apps on LINE over the next few months. By integrating with Japan’s largest social media platform, Soneium aims to introduce decentralized applications to mainstream users, making web3 technology more accessible.
LINE MINI App builders will benefit from Soneium’s support in community building, strategic marketing, and intellectual property (IP) collaboration, further strengthening the blockchain ecosystem within the LINE network.
Four Mini-Apps to Debut on LINE
Soneium will launch four mini-apps, each of which has already seen success within the web3 gaming space. These apps are designed to engage users while introducing them to blockchain-based incentives and mechanics.
- Sleepagotchi LITE: A mini-app version of the upcoming Sleepagotchi Sleep Rewards app for iOS and Android. Players earn points through the mini-app, which can be transferred to the main application. Sleepagotchi LITE gained 1 million users on Telegram within its first month.
- Farm Frens: Originally launched on Telegram in 2024, Farm Frens is a farming simulation game developed by Amihan Entertainment. The game’s relaunch on Soneium could serve as an entry point into crypto for LINE’s web2 users. Amihan Entertainment has raised over $10 million in funding for the project.
- Puffy Match: A mini-game from Moonveil, a zk-layer 2 and AI-powered gaming ecosystem. Designed for fast-paced, engaging gameplay, Puffy Match rewards players while strengthening community participation within the web3 space.
- Pocket Mob: A social strategy RPG developed by Sonzai Labs, the creators of @TeleMafia. The game lets players engage in mafia-style battles and form Mob Families within social messaging apps. Players can earn Respect points, which may translate into NFT rewards.
Sony and LINE’s Vision for Web3 Adoption
Jun Watanabe, Chairman of Sony Block Solutions Labs, emphasized the significance of the partnership, stating that integrating successful mini-apps into the Soneium ecosystem will make web3 adoption easier and more engaging.
“LINE has built a strong presence, and integrating successful mini-apps into the Soneium ecosystem is the next step toward making Soneium more accessible,” said Watanabe.
With this collaboration, Soneium and LINE are set to bridge the gap between traditional social media users and blockchain technology, potentially driving mass adoption of web3 gaming and decentralized applications.
