Chelsea Football Club has signed a major sponsorship agreement with Circle Internet Group, bringing the USDC stablecoin brand to the front of Chelsea shirts for the 2026/27 season.
The partnership makes Circle Chelsea’s principal and official front-of-shirt partner. Circle and USDC branding will feature across the club’s men’s, women’s and academy match shirts, giving the stablecoin company significant exposure to Chelsea’s global fan base.
The branding is expected to make its Premier League debut when Chelsea’s men’s team plays its first home match of the season against Brighton.
Circle Brings USDC to Chelsea Shirts
Under the new agreement, Circle and its USDC stablecoin will have a prominent presence on Chelsea’s matchday shirts throughout the 2026/27 campaign.
Founded in 2013, Circle is best known as the issuer of USDC, one of the world’s largest dollar-backed stablecoins. The company has been expanding the use of USDC beyond cryptocurrency trading, particularly in areas such as payments, cross-border transfers and institutional settlement.
The Chelsea partnership gives Circle an opportunity to introduce its brand and USDC to a much broader consumer audience.
Circle co-founder and CEO Jeremy Allaire said the company built USDC around the belief that money should be able to move globally with the same ease as information moves across the internet.
According to Allaire, partnering with Chelsea connects Circle with an international sports community that shares a similarly borderless outlook.
Circle Chief Commercial Officer Kash Razzaghi also highlighted Chelsea’s international reach, saying it fits well with Circle’s ambition to improve how digital money moves across borders.
Putting USDC on one of football’s most recognizable shirts represents a major step in Circle’s efforts to make its stablecoin brand more familiar outside the traditional crypto market.
Chelsea Continues Its Connection With Crypto
The Circle agreement is not Chelsea’s first major partnership with a digital asset company.
Crypto exchange BingX previously partnered with Chelsea in 2024 and later became the club’s Official Men’s Training Kit Partner for the 2025/26 season.
The latest Circle sponsorship shows that Chelsea remains interested in working with companies operating at the intersection of finance, blockchain and emerging digital technologies.
Crypto sponsorships have become increasingly visible in professional football over recent years, particularly among major European clubs seeking partnerships with internationally focused technology and financial companies.
For Circle, however, the Chelsea deal represents more than conventional crypto advertising. The company has spent much of 2026 strengthening USDC’s position within regulated financial infrastructure.
Circle Expands USDC Distribution in 2026
The Chelsea sponsorship arrives during a period of significant expansion for Circle and USDC.
Earlier in August, Circle renewed its USDC agreement with Coinbase for another three years, extending the partnership through 2029.
At the end of the second quarter, USDC circulation reportedly stood at approximately $73.3 billion, representing a 19% increase compared with the same period a year earlier.
Circle also reported quarterly revenue and reserve income of $701 million.
Coinbase held roughly 30% of circulating USDC on its platform at the end of June. Circle has indicated that it intends to continue investing in products, distribution partnerships and other growth opportunities.
Alongside commercial expansion, Circle has also been strengthening its regulated infrastructure.
On July 31, the company secured a New York trust charter from the New York Department of Financial Services for Circle New York Trust. The approval added another regulated entity supporting Circle’s USDC operations.
It followed federal authorization involving a separate Circle entity from the U.S. Office of the Comptroller of the Currency.
Circle Pushes USDC Into Traditional Payments
Circle has also been working with established financial and payment companies to expand the practical use of USDC.
In July, Japanese payments group JCB reached an agreement with a Circle affiliate to test USDC-based payments in Japan.
The initial stage focuses on JCB’s internal cross-border treasury transfers, while potential merchant payment applications could be explored later.
Circle has also strengthened its relationships with major banking institutions.
In June, BNY enabled institutional customers to mint, redeem, hold and transfer USDC through its Digital Asset Custody platform.
Standard Chartered followed in July by offering eligible institutional customers access to USDC minting and redemption through its own banking infrastructure, initially through operations in the Dubai International Financial Centre.
These partnerships demonstrate Circle’s broader strategy of positioning USDC as financial infrastructure rather than simply a cryptocurrency used for trading.
Chelsea Sees Circle Partnership as Part of Its Digital Future
Chelsea President Jason Gannon described the partnership as a meeting of two organizations focused on innovation and long-term growth.
He said Chelsea and Circle are both looking toward the future and continuously exploring ways to improve how they operate.
The agreement will also extend beyond Chelsea’s men’s first team.
Chelsea Women will carry Circle and USDC branding during their inaugural season at Stamford Bridge, while the club’s academy shirts are also included in the sponsorship.
Chelsea FC Women CEO Aki Mandhar said the club plans to introduce Circle and USDC to its fan community as part of the partnership.
Chelsea President of Commercial Todd Kline also highlighted the global ambitions shared by the two organizations, pointing to Circle’s efforts to transform international money movement and Chelsea’s evolution as a global football club.
USDC Moves Into the Global Sports Spotlight
For Circle, the Chelsea sponsorship marks a noticeable shift toward mainstream consumer visibility.
Much of Circle’s recent growth has focused on banks, institutional customers, payment providers and blockchain infrastructure. Putting Circle and USDC branding on Chelsea shirts brings the company directly in front of millions of football fans worldwide.
It could also help familiarize a mainstream audience with the USDC name at a time when stablecoins are increasingly being explored for payments, settlements and international transfers.
Chelsea’s men’s team is expected to wear the Circle and USDC branding in a Premier League home match for the first time against Brighton.
The sponsorship will then remain across Chelsea’s men’s, women’s and academy match shirts throughout the 2026/27 season.
