Bitmine Immersion Technologies is rapidly becoming one of the largest institutional holders of Ethereum.
The company has announced that its Ethereum treasury has grown to 5,742,237 ETH, bringing it within striking distance of its ambitious goal of owning 5% of Ethereum’s total circulating supply. With nearly 4.8% of all ETH now under its control, Bitmine is doubling down on a strategy that combines large-scale Ethereum accumulation with staking rewards to generate long-term returns.
The latest milestone also reinforces the company’s belief that Ethereum will play a central role in the future of digital payments, decentralized finance, and tokenized financial services.
Bitmine’s Ethereum holdings continue to grow
According to the company’s latest treasury update, Bitmine now holds 5.74 million ETH, representing approximately 4.8% of Ethereum’s current circulating supply of 120.7 million ETH.
The company’s combined balance sheet—including cryptocurrencies, cash, marketable securities, and strategic investments—is now valued at approximately $11.1 billion.
In addition to its Ethereum holdings, Bitmine owns:
- 206 Bitcoin (BTC)
- $527 million in cash and marketable securities
- Equity investments in Beast Industries
- A stake in Eightco Holdings
The latest figures follow Bitmine’s steady accumulation strategy throughout 2026, during which the company has consistently expanded its Ethereum reserves.
Tom Lee sees Ethereum benefiting from regulatory clarity
Bitmine Chairman Tom Lee believes improving U.S. crypto regulation could become a major catalyst for Ethereum.
Lee pointed to growing optimism surrounding the proposed CLARITY Act, arguing that clearer regulatory rules could accelerate institutional adoption of smart contract platforms.
According to Lee, Ethereum already serves as critical infrastructure for several payment networks and financial services.
He highlighted that Ethereum Layer-2 networks currently process USDC transactions for major companies including Visa and Shopify, demonstrating Ethereum’s expanding role beyond cryptocurrency trading.
As regulatory uncertainty decreases, Lee expects demand for Ethereum-based applications to continue growing.
The “Alchemy of 5%” strategy
Bitmine refers to its long-term accumulation plan as the “Alchemy of 5%.”
The objective is straightforward: acquire 5% of Ethereum’s total supply.
Based on Ethereum’s current circulating supply, achieving that milestone would require approximately 6.04 million ETH.
With 5.74 million ETH already secured, Bitmine has completed roughly 95% of its target.
Large-scale institutional accumulation like this could reduce the amount of ETH available on the open market, potentially tightening supply if demand continues to increase.
However, concentrated ownership also raises questions about market concentration and long-term liquidity.
Staking has become the core of Bitmine’s treasury model
Rather than simply holding Ethereum, Bitmine is actively staking the majority of its treasury.
The company disclosed that approximately 4,879,157 ETH—worth around $8.8 billion at an ETH price of $1,800—is currently locked in staking.
That represents nearly 85% of Bitmine’s total Ethereum holdings.
According to the company, its staking operations generated an annualized yield of approximately 2.68% over the past week.
At current staking levels, Bitmine estimates annual staking revenue could reach roughly $235 million, creating a recurring income stream while maintaining long-term exposure to Ethereum.
This combination of capital appreciation and validator rewards has become the foundation of Bitmine’s treasury strategy.
MAVAN expands Bitmine’s validator ambitions
Bitmine is also investing heavily in blockchain infrastructure.
The company has developed MAVAN (Made in America Validator Network), originally built to support its own Ethereum treasury.
Over time, Bitmine plans to expand the validator network to serve:
- Institutional investors
- Digital asset custodians
- Enterprise blockchain partners
- Other participants within the Ethereum ecosystem
The initiative positions Bitmine not only as an ETH holder but also as a key infrastructure provider within the Ethereum network.
Russell 1000 inclusion boosts institutional visibility
Bitmine recently joined the Russell 1000 Large-Cap Index, a move that could significantly increase institutional ownership.
Index inclusion places the company in front of numerous passive investment funds and large asset managers that automatically allocate capital to Russell constituents.
Tom Lee believes the addition could introduce hundreds—or even thousands—of new institutional investors to Bitmine’s shareholder base.
The company also strengthened its balance sheet through a Series A preferred stock offering, featuring a 9.5% annual dividend, further supporting its Ethereum-focused treasury strategy.
Outlook
Bitmine’s rapid Ethereum accumulation highlights the growing role of institutional treasury strategies within the digital asset market.
With nearly 5.74 million ETH under management and approximately 85% of those holdings generating staking rewards, the company is building one of the largest Ethereum-based treasury models in the world.
Tom Lee’s optimism surrounding regulatory clarity, combined with Bitmine’s expanding validator infrastructure and growing institutional exposure through the Russell 1000, reinforces the company’s long-term commitment to Ethereum.
While ETH price volatility remains an ongoing risk, Bitmine’s strategy reflects growing confidence that Ethereum will remain a foundational asset for the next generation of blockchain-based financial services.
