Under the new law, <strong>all businesses issuing stablecoins<\/strong> tied to the <strong>Hong Kong dollar<\/strong> or operating within the city will be required to obtain a <strong>license from the Hong Kong Monetary Authority (HKMA)<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Licensing Now Mandatory for Stablecoin Issuers<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The legislation mandates that stablecoin issuers comply with <strong>stringent requirements<\/strong>, including:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Full reserve backing<\/strong> and <strong>face-value redemptions<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Separation of client assets<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Robust risk management frameworks<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Auditing, disclosure, and AML compliance<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>These measures aim to align Hong Kong\u2019s regulatory approach with <strong>global standards<\/strong>, ensuring that stablecoin-related activities are both <strong>secure<\/strong> and <strong>transparent<\/strong>.
