The breach triggered immediate concern among the platform\u2019s nearly <strong>3 million followers<\/strong> as an unauthorized post falsely claimed a partnership between <strong>SWIFT<\/strong> and <strong>Ripple\u2019s XRP<\/strong> for cross-border payments.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Unauthorized XRP Post Triggers Concern<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>At around <strong>2:05 AM UTC<\/strong>, a post appeared on the Watcher Guru X account, alleging that payment giant SWIFT was finalizing an agreement with Ripple to use <strong>XRP<\/strong> for international remittance services. The post was quickly deleted, and the platform issued a warning stating that the message was not from their team but from a <strong>malicious actor<\/strong> who had gained access to the account.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>\u201cOur X account has been hacked and the previous post (now deleted) was posted by a hacker. We have 2FA enabled and have taken extreme measures to avoid hacks,\u201d Watcher Guru stated in a follow-up post.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Compromised Post Reached Multiple Platforms<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Due to Watcher Guru\u2019s integration of automated bots that repost X updates across its other channels, the <strong>fake XRP announcement was simultaneously pushed to its Telegram, Discord, and Facebook<\/strong> accounts. The team has since removed all unauthorized posts and is working with <strong>X\u2019s support team<\/strong> to investigate the breach further.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Suspected Social Engineering Attack<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>While the investigation is ongoing, Watcher Guru suspects that the attack may be linked to a <strong>malicious X link<\/strong> the team received on <strong>Telegram on March 5<\/strong>. The suspicious link contained a <strong>\u201ctoken\u201d query string<\/strong> not commonly found in legitimate X URLs, suggesting it may have been part of a <strong>social engineering ploy<\/strong> to gain unauthorized access.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>\u201cWe did not think much of it since it was an official link, but sent a message to X\u2019s head of Cyber Security @cstanley just in case. However, we did not receive a response,\u201d the team noted in its statement.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>Although Watcher Guru cannot confirm a direct link between the strange URL and the hack, the team highlighted that <strong>a similar incident affected another crypto media platform, DB News<\/strong>, despite the presence of <strong>two-factor authentication (2FA)<\/strong> on both accounts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Broader Trend of Platform Exploits<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The incident adds to a growing list of <strong>high-profile social media breaches<\/strong> in the crypto space.
