The deposit was traced back to Lazarus Group\u2019s <strong>Bitcoin transactions<\/strong>, highlighting the group\u2019s ongoing attempts to launder stolen crypto.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Lazarus Group has been linked to <strong>multiple high-profile hacks<\/strong>, including the <strong>$1.4 billion Bybit exploit in February<\/strong>. Following such attacks, the group uses various methods to <strong>conceal stolen funds<\/strong>, including decentralized exchanges like <strong>THORChain<\/strong>, which does not require <strong>identity verification<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Reports indicate that within just <strong>five days<\/strong>, around <strong>$2.91 billion<\/strong> was moved through <strong>THORChain<\/strong>, making it significantly harder to <strong>track and recover stolen funds<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Expanding Malware Attacks on Developers<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>In a <strong>new wave of cyber attacks<\/strong>, <strong>Lazarus Group<\/strong> has launched <strong>six new malicious software packages<\/strong> on the <strong>Node Package Manager (NPM) platform<\/strong>, a widely used tool for <strong>JavaScript developers<\/strong>. According to <strong>security firm Socket\u2019s March 11 report<\/strong>, the malware is designed to <strong>steal credentials and crypto wallet data<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>One of the malware packages, <strong>BeaverTail<\/strong>, <strong>mimics legitimate JavaScript libraries<\/strong> using <strong>typosquatting<\/strong>, where attackers <strong>slightly alter the names of trusted software<\/strong> to deceive developers into downloading it.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The malware primarily targets <strong>stored credentials<\/strong> in <strong>Chrome, Brave, and Firefox browsers<\/strong>, as well as <strong>Solana and Exodus wallets<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Fake Zoom Calls to Target Crypto Founders<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Lazarus Group has also been employing <strong>social engineering tactics<\/strong> to compromise <strong>crypto founders<\/strong>:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Hackers pose as <strong>venture capitalists<\/strong> and set up <strong>fake Zoom meetings<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>They claim to have <strong>audio issues<\/strong> and send victims a <strong>malicious file as a supposed fix<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Once downloaded, the malware <strong>grants attackers access to sensitive data and crypto wallets<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>North Korea\u2019s Crypto Heists Continue to Rise<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>According to <strong>Chainalysis<\/strong>, North Korean hackers stole <strong>over $1.3 billion in crypto<\/strong> across <strong>47 attacks in 2024<\/strong>, <strong>more than doubling<\/strong> the amount stolen in <strong>2023<\/strong>.
