If approved by the House, the bill will be sent to the <strong>governor\u2019s desk<\/strong> for final approval before becoming law.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Key Provisions of the Bill<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Introduced by <strong>State Senator Wendy Rogers<\/strong> and <strong>Representative Jeff Weninger<\/strong>, SB 1025 proposes allowing the <strong>Arizona state treasurer<\/strong> to invest up to <strong>10% of public funds<\/strong> in virtual currencies, including <strong>Bitcoin<\/strong>. The bill defines virtual currencies as <strong>digital assets used as a medium of exchange, a unit of account, and a store of value<\/strong>, while excluding representations of the <strong>U.S. dollar or foreign currencies<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The legislation also supports the <strong>creation of a Strategic Bitcoin Reserve<\/strong>, detailing measures for <strong>secure storage of holdings in segregated accounts<\/strong> and the potential <strong>deposit of public assets into a federal reserve if one is established<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Arizona Among Leading States in Bitcoin Legislation<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>With this bill, <strong>Arizona becomes the second U.S. state, following Utah<\/strong>, to push a <strong>Bitcoin reserve bill<\/strong> into the final stages of the <strong>legislative process<\/strong>. According to a <strong>February 28 post by Bitcoin Laws<\/strong>, Arizona has climbed to <strong>second place in the so-called Reserve Race<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;Bitcoin Reserve Bill SB 1373 has passed the Senate third reading, by a vote of 17-12. Now moves to the House. States such as <strong>Montana, Wyoming, North Dakota, South Dakota, and Pennsylvania<\/strong> have <strong>rejected<\/strong> proposed crypto investment legislation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Arizona\u2019s Additional Crypto Legislation<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Alongside SB 1025, the <strong>Arizona Senate<\/strong> also passed the <strong>Strategic Digital Assets Reserve bill (SB 1373)<\/strong> with a <strong>17-12 vote<\/strong> on the same day. However, SB 1373 differs from the Bitcoin Reserve Act as it focuses on <strong>managing seized digital assets<\/strong> and <strong>state-appropriated funds<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This bill proposes the establishment of a <strong>state treasurer-managed Digital Assets Strategic Reserve Fund<\/strong>, which would <strong>hold seized crypto assets and funds allocated by the state legislature<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Arizona\u2019s <strong>progressive stance on Bitcoin and digital assets<\/strong> is bringing the state closer to becoming a <strong>leader in crypto adoption and financial innovation<\/strong>.
