The move will primarily affect <strong>temporary and contract staff<\/strong>, with job reductions occurring <strong>through natural attrition as projects are completed<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>AI Reshapes Workforce at DBS<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to <strong>DBS\u2019s outgoing CEO, Piyush Gupta<\/strong>, the bank\u2019s AI strategy will <strong>streamline operations<\/strong> while also <strong>creating around 1,000 new AI-related job opportunities<\/strong>. This makes DBS <strong>one of the first major banks to provide insight into AI\u2019s impact on its workforce<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A <strong>DBS spokesperson<\/strong> elaborated on the workforce changes:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>\u201cOver the next three years, we envisage that AI could reduce the need to renew about 4,000 temporary\/contract staff across our 19 markets working on specific projects.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>\u201cAs such, we expect the reduction in workforce will come from natural attrition as these temporary and contract roles are completed over the next few years.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>DBS currently employs <strong>between 8,000 and 9,000 temporary and contract workers<\/strong>, alongside a <strong>total workforce of around 41,000 employees<\/strong>. The bank has not specified how many jobs in <strong>Singapore<\/strong> will be affected.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>DBS\u2019s AI Investment and Growth<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>DBS has been investing in <strong>AI technologies for over a decade<\/strong>, deploying <strong>over 800 AI models across 350 use cases<\/strong>.
