The Hashgraph Group has added its Hedera-based IDTrust platform to the IBM Cloud Catalog, giving enterprise customers a new way to deploy verifiable digital identities for AI agents, devices and people.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The partnership, announced on September 23, brings IDTrust into IBM\u2019s cloud marketplace as businesses increasingly look for ways to verify the identity and authorization of autonomous AI systems.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
IBM\u2019s catalog currently lists IDTrust as a third-party blockchain solution from The Hashgraph Group, while IBM\u2019s partner directory identifies the company as a Silver Partner, Independent Software Vendor and managed service provider.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
IDTrust is designed to give humans, machines and autonomous AI agents unique digital identities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The platform uses decentralized identifiers and verifiable credentials, allowing organizations to confirm who or what is interacting with their systems.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to The Hashgraph Group, each participant can receive a unique Credentials can then be cryptographically signed and verified through an auditable identity process.<\/p>\n\n\n\n This approach is particularly relevant for AI agents that may operate independently across enterprise systems and need to prove that they are authorized to perform certain actions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n IDTrust also gives organizations control over how identities are issued and managed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Enterprises can create credentials for specific purposes and revoke them when access is no longer required.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The Hashgraph Group says identities assigned to AI agents are non-transferable and can be approved by human operators.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Revocation records are anchored on Hedera, providing an additional layer of auditability.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The platform currently targets industries including financial services, healthcare, telecommunications, education and connected-device identity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n IDTrust also follows W3C standards for decentralized identifiers and Verifiable Credentials, which are designed to support secure, machine-verifiable digital credentials.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The relationship between IBM and The Hashgraph Group goes beyond simply listing IDTrust in IBM Cloud Catalog.<\/p>\n\n\n\n THG said it has signed a global Embedded Solution Agreement with IBM covering cloud and artificial intelligence technologies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The agreement allows The Hashgraph Group to integrate IBM technology into products sold under its own offerings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n IBM\u2019s Partner Plus directory also lists IDTrust among THG\u2019s available solutions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n However, IBM notes that some company and product details in its partner directory are supplied by partners themselves and are not independently validated unless otherwise stated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n IBM\u2019s involvement with the Hedera ecosystem is not new.<\/p>\n\n\n\n IBM joined the Hedera Governing Council in 2019 alongside Tata Communications.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The council is responsible for participating in the governance of the Hedera network, creating an existing connection between IBM and the wider Hedera ecosystem.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The new IDTrust listing therefore expands an already established relationship into enterprise identity infrastructure for AI systems.<\/p>\n\n\n\n As autonomous software becomes more common, businesses are increasingly focused on verifying whether an AI agent is legitimate and whether it has permission to act.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The Hashgraph Group refers to this concept as \u201cKnow Your Agent,\u201d or KYA.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The idea is similar to identity verification systems used for people and organizations, but it is designed specifically for autonomous software.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Gartner has forecast that task-specific AI agents could appear in 40% of enterprise applications by the end of 2026, up from less than 5% in 2025.<\/p>\n\n\n\n That figure is a forecast rather than an observed adoption rate, but it highlights the growing attention being placed on AI-agent governance and identity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Rapid adoption of autonomous AI also brings security and governance concerns.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Gartner separately predicted that 40% of enterprises could demote or retire autonomous AI agents by 2027 after discovering governance problems during deployment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The research firm has argued that AI agents with different levels of access and autonomy may require different security controls rather than a single governance model.<\/p>\n\n\n\n This is one of the problems identity platforms such as IDTrust are attempting to address by linking AI agents to verified credentials, permissions and audit records.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The Hashgraph Group is not alone in exploring identity frameworks for AI agents.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Akamai introduced an agentic security framework that focuses on agent identity, authorization and human attribution.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Its partners include Visa, Experian and Skyfire.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Akamai’s Know Your Agent framework is designed to let AI agents communicate their identity, origin and intended actions while linking those agents to the platforms and people they represent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Visa has also developed its Trusted Agent Protocol for identity and authorization in automated payments.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Despite the similar terminology, these systems are separate frameworks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n There is currently no single industry-wide Know Your Agent standard established across these different initiatives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The Hashgraph Group has continued expanding its enterprise-focused products built around Hedera.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Its broader product portfolio includes identity, transaction infrastructure, loyalty tools, traceability solutions and environmental-market technology.<\/p>\n\n\n\n IDTrust is focused specifically on credential creation and verification.<\/p>\n\n\n\n THG has also worked on other enterprise applications, including cocoa traceability and digital product passports with Merck, as well as infrastructure related to carbon markets and cross-border logistics.<\/p>\n\n\n\n THG CEO Stefan Deiss said enterprises increasingly need ways to determine whether autonomous software is genuinely authorized to act on their behalf.<\/p>\n\n\n\n That issue is likely to become more important as AI agents gain greater access to company systems, data and automated workflows.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Naemi Benz, vice president of IBM Partner Ecosystem DACH, said the IBM Cloud Catalog listing gives clients access to THG\u2019s decentralized identity technology through IBM\u2019s partner ecosystem.<\/p>\n\n\n\n As of September 24, IDTrust is listed in IBM Cloud Catalog as an available third-party blockchain product.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The Hashgraph Group also offers enterprise access to the platform through its managed service, SDK
