Officials said a shortlist of <strong>five hedge funds<\/strong> has already been prepared, though their identities were not disclosed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Looking further ahead, Suleimenov added that the NIC plans to allocate capital to <strong>crypto-focused venture capital funds<\/strong> as the market matures.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Reserve plans confirmed by president<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Kazakhstan\u2019s crypto reserve strategy was formally confirmed in September by President <strong>Kassym-Jomart Tokayev<\/strong>, who said the fund would also be supported by <strong>cryptocurrency mined through state-backed operations<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At the time, Tokayev also floated the idea of developing a smart urban hub known as <strong>\u201cCryptoCity\u201d<\/strong>, envisioned as a technology-driven district where crypto payments could be used for everyday goods and services.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">A cautious but evolving crypto stance<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Kazakhstan has gradually softened its position on digital assets, but officials continue to draw a hard line against unlicensed activity. A report earlier this month said regulators blocked more than <strong>1,100 online crypto exchange platforms<\/strong> throughout 2025 as part of an ongoing enforcement push.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At the same time, authorities are experimenting with regulated crypto use cases. The <strong>Astana Financial Services Authority<\/strong> has begun accepting regulatory fees in <strong>USD-pegged stablecoins<\/strong> through approved agents, including <strong>Bybit<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Bybit has since launched a <strong>fully regulated peer-to-peer platform<\/strong> in the country, aimed at providing a transparent and compliant environment for crypto trading.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Kazakhstan has also unveiled a <strong>stablecoin project on Solana<\/strong>, with the central bank working alongside local banks and exchanges as part of a broader digital finance initiative.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Bigger picture<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>By channeling seized crypto into a sovereign reserve, Kazakhstan is blending enforcement with adoption turning illicit proceeds into state-managed digital assets.
