Sei (SEI) is hovering close to the $0.12 level as traders remain cautious ahead of a scheduled token unlock worth nearly $7 million. With prices already under pressure, the upcoming supply release is adding another layer of uncertainty to the market.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
At the time of writing, SEI was trading around $0.1249, down about 1.4% over the last 24 hours. The token has struggled to gain traction recently, falling more than 6% over the past week and staying trapped within a narrow range between $0.124 and $0.148.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Despite the weak price action, trading activity is picking up. Sei\u2019s 24-hour trading volume climbed 21% to roughly $48 million, showing that interest remains strong around current levels. Derivatives data paints a similar picture. Futures trading volume surged 41% to $125 million, while open interest slipped by 3.3% to around $100 million.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
This combination typically suggests short-term traders are active, but longer-term conviction is still lacking, as positions are being closed rather than expanded.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Adding to the pressure, data from Tokenomist shows that around 55.56 million SEI tokens valued at approximately $6.94 million are set to unlock on Dec. 15. This represents just over 1% of the circulating supply. While the team has not yet confirmed final details, unlock events often weigh on price in the short term, especially during downtrends, as newly released tokens can increase selling pressure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
While short-term sentiment remains cautious, Sei continues to build its longer-term narrative. The project recently announced a partnership with Xiaomi, which plans to pre-install a Sei-powered wallet and stablecoin finance app on select smartphones outside China and the U.S. starting in 2026.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In addition, Canary Capital has updated its filing for a staked SEI exchange-traded fund following feedback from regulators, keeping the door open for potential institutional exposure next year. On-chain activity is also improving, with decentralized exchanges and perpetual markets showing increased usage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
From a technical standpoint, SEI remains in a clear medium-term downtrend. The price has consistently formed lower highs and lower lows since breaking down from the $0.28\u2013$0.30 range earlier this year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Recently, price action has stabilized between $0.12 and $0.13, suggesting that selling pressure may be easing. Bollinger Bands, which widened sharply during the sell-off, are now narrowing, signaling reduced volatility. SEI is also trading close to the middle band, indicating an attempt by buyers to steady the market.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
However, the 20-day moving average continues to cap any rebound attempts, acting as a strong resistance level. Volume has cooled significantly since the major breakdown, highlighting hesitation from both buyers and sellers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The relative strength index (RSI) sits near 40 and has recovered from oversold conditions around 30, suggesting that downside momentum is slowing rather than accelerating.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
If SEI fails to hold the $0.12 level on a daily close, further downside could follow as the token unlock adds pressure.
