Instead, they\u2019re fraudulent on-chain events that appear in explorers and wallets but involve <strong>no actual transfer of tokens<\/strong>. Because ERC-20 is simply an interface standard, anyone can deploy a contract that emits misleading logs designed to mimic real transfers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Hunsaker shared examples of transactions he never initiated, emphasizing that although they look legitimate, they cannot move tokens or drain wallets.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>The real danger is psychological scammers try to trick users into clicking phishing links, \u201cclaim\u201d pages, or malicious contracts that request approvals.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>The trend is especially common during the early days of new EVM chains, when user excitement is high and dApps launch rapidly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Community Reaction<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Warnings spread quickly on X, briefly making \u201c#MonadScam\u201d trend before the situation was clarified.
