In a candid post on X (formerly Twitter)<\/strong> on October 21<\/strong>, Polygon co-founder Sandeep Nailwal<\/strong> said his \u201cloyalty toward Ethereum is weakening,\u201d claiming that the Ethereum Foundation has provided \u201cno direct support\u201d<\/strong> to Polygon despite its years of building crucial scaling infrastructure for the network.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI\u2019ve started questioning my loyalty toward Ethereum,\u201d Nailwal wrote. \u201cI did not come into crypto because of Bitcoin but because of Ethereum. I have a lot of gratitude toward Vitalik [Buterin] someone I looked up to but it\u2019s disheartening to see Polygon\u2019s work go unacknowledged.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

Nailwal argued that Polygon\u2019s ecosystem which includes Katana<\/strong>, XLayer<\/strong>, and other networks deeply integrated with Ethereum has consistently helped scale the Ethereum network<\/strong>, yet is still treated as \u201cseparate\u201d from the broader Ethereum community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He added that Polygon\u2019s market capitalization could be \u201ctwo to five times higher\u201d<\/strong> if it operated independently as a standalone layer-1 blockchain<\/strong> rather than maintaining its deep ties to Ethereum.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Nailwal\u2019s post came in response to a broader conversation among developers regarding how the Ethereum Foundation allocates resources and recognition<\/strong> a recurring point of contention within the ecosystem.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sonic Labs\u2019 Andre Cronje Echoes Similar Concerns<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Shortly after Nailwal\u2019s remarks, Andre Cronje<\/strong>, co-founder of Sonic Labs<\/strong> and one of Ethereum\u2019s early DeFi pioneers, echoed similar frustrations. Cronje revealed that he had spent over 700 ETH<\/strong> on development and infrastructure while building on Ethereum without receiving any form of grant, outreach, or acknowledgment<\/strong> from the foundation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
