With BRC2.0, those calculators have been replaced with a <strong>custom EVM execution engine<\/strong>, transforming indexers into full-fledged computers capable of running smart contracts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In practice, this means developers can now inscribe and execute <strong>Turing-complete smart contract code<\/strong> on Bitcoin, bringing features once exclusive to Ethereum such as lending protocols, decentralized exchanges, and programmable tokens into Bitcoin\u2019s ecosystem.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Why the EVM Matters<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>By adopting the EVM, BRC2.0 taps into the world\u2019s most widely used smart contract framework.
