Borrowing activity is still relatively small at <strong>$6.2 million<\/strong>, with nearly all loans taken out in USDC. Other supported assets, including Aave\u2019s native <strong>GHO<\/strong>, tokenized U.S. Treasuries, and collateralized loan obligations, haven\u2019t yet gained much traction on the borrowing side.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">How Horizon Works<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Horizon is designed with a <strong>segregated pool system<\/strong>. One set of pools handles tokenized real-world assets (RWAs), while another manages stablecoin liquidity. Here\u2019s the breakdown:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Qualified institutions<\/strong>: Vetted and permissioned users can deposit tokenized assets such as USTB\/USCC from <strong>Superstate<\/strong> or JTRSY\/JAAA from <strong>Centrifuge<\/strong> into the RWA pools. These assets then serve as collateral.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Borrowing<\/strong>: Using that collateral, institutions can borrow stablecoins like <strong>USDC, RLUSD, or GHO<\/strong>. Ethena\u2019s synthetic yield-bearing stablecoin, <strong>USDt-b<\/strong>, is also on the roadmap.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Liquidity providers<\/strong>: On the other side, everyday DeFi users and funds can supply stablecoins into the liquidity pools. They don\u2019t need special permissions and earn yield when institutions borrow.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>The result is a two-sided market where <strong>regulated entities bring institutional-grade collateral<\/strong>, and <strong>the DeFi community provides stablecoin liquidity<\/strong>, blending traditional finance with decentralized infrastructure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Why It Matters<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>While borrowing demand is still ramping up, the pace of deposits underscores growing confidence in on-chain credit solutions.
