The payout marks another step forward in the company\u2019s long road back from its 2022 collapse.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Third Distribution Update<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Announced on <strong>August 20<\/strong>, the latest repayment brings total recoveries to <strong>64.9% of creditor claims<\/strong>. The distribution includes both <strong>crypto and cash<\/strong>, sent via platforms such as <strong>Coinbase, PayPal, Venmo, and Hyperwallet<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Previous distributions included:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>$127 million<\/strong> in November 2024, and<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A massive <strong>$2.53 billion payout<\/strong> earlier in 2024 to more than <strong>251,000 creditors<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Under the plan approved by <strong>98% of creditors in 2023<\/strong>, Celsius aims for a <strong>67%\u201385% total recovery<\/strong>. Some creditors may also receive equity in <strong>Ionic Digital Inc.<\/strong>, the company\u2019s newly launched <strong>Bitcoin mining subsidiary<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Claim Updates Still Required<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Celsius has urged eligible creditors to <strong>update their details in the claims portal<\/strong> to avoid payout delays. However, some creditors could face longer waits due to <strong>ongoing legal and regulatory issues<\/strong> that still affect repayment eligibility.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">From Collapse to Partial Recovery<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Celsius filed for bankruptcy in <strong>July 2022<\/strong>, after its risky strategies and exposure to the <strong>Terra-Luna crash<\/strong> left it with a <strong>$1.2 billion hole<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Key factors in the downfall included:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Over-leveraged trading,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Reliance on unsecured lending, and<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Unrealistic promises of returns up to <strong>18% annually<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>When the market crashed, Celsius froze withdrawals, sparking outrage among customers and prompting lawsuits and regulatory crackdowns.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Today, repayments have passed the halfway mark but many creditors still face <strong>slow recoveries<\/strong> that fall short of full compensation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Bottom line: Celsius has now repaid nearly <strong>two-thirds of creditor claims<\/strong>, with more to come.
